Aussie Open Days 3 & 4 Review

Over the past two days in Melbourne, the action has started to become entertaining starting with the Blake-delPotro match on Wednesday and then with Marcos Baghdatis' cheering section electrifying the grounds yesterday. On the women's side, Justine Henin is back after beating Elena Dementieva on Wednesday. In celebrity sighting news, Prince William topped T.O.'s appearance at Andy Roddick's first round match by showing up at Roger Federer's match last night.

Biggest Upset on Men's Side: Baghdatis over (17) David Ferrer
Biggest Upset on Women's Side: Gisela Dulko over (20) Ana Ivanovic
Best Match of the Second Round: (4) Juan Martin del Potro over James Blake in 5 sets.
Best Display of Heart: Marcos Baghdatis
Favorites to Make the Final after 2 rounds: Serena Williams vs. whoever makes it out of Henin/Clijsters/Kuznetsova quarter.
Federer vs. Nadal
Hometown Favorites Left: (22) Lleyton Hewitt and (13) Sam Stosur

Third Round Preview:
On the men's side, Federer and the other top seeds, besides del Potro, have looked dominant and expect no less from them. The next round does provide many intriguing matchups including Hewitt vs. Baghdatis, Cilic vs. Wawrinka, and Isner vs. Monfils. From this point on, the matches will be difficult and look for more exciting tennis to come out of the men,
For the women, the draw of death is starting to take over all the attention. Justine Henin, Kim Clijsters, Nadia Petrova, and Svetlana Kuznetsova are fighting for a chance to reach the semis and only one will make it, which will make for some emotional matches because of the comebacks of the two Belgians, Henin and Clijsters. The other three quarters lack the excitement and big name talent that above mentioned one has.

Come back over the weekend to read my fourth round preview for the Aussie Open.
